Greetings from Western!

God, haven't written here in ages. Then again, haven't been on livejournal in ages...

Western is absolutely the greatest school in the world! I may be exagerating a bit here, but after hearing horror stories *coughMcGillcough* I thought university would be this horrible drunken blur of nasty puking-at-three-in-the-morning... but it isn't ANYTHING like that! Granted, I'm not actively seeking out said parties, but it's really nice to know that I can sleep at night without worrying about random drunk people stumbling into my room. SUITE STYLE! OH YEAH!

I'm very much missing high school, but considering the classes I'm taking now, university seems a hell of a lot easier than RHHS. Maybe it's just my program (ARTS AND HUMANITIES!!!!), but... I LOVE WESTERN! I joined the Squash team and *don't kill me* the Harry Potter club =D... and it's awesome! I don't ever have class earlier than 9:30, I only have ONE HOUR of class on Tuesday, and I'm close enough to go home any weekend I feel like (although I still haven't quite figured out how the bussing system works...)

I may sound a little enthusiastic but... life is great. Seriously. I thought I'd never make friends here, cause everyone'd be drunk or wtvr (party school, remember?), but I've met some REALLY nice ppl (ok, one indulges in pot once in a while, but I'm trying to learn toleration :S), my profs rock... yah =) Granted, I may feel a little sad and lonely sometimes, but I can always count on my happy Johnny Depp posters to cheer me up - this week is poster week, and I bought a gazillion posters - hung them all around my room. It's actually starting to feel like I live here!

And my optimism is probably starting to irritate people, so I'll conclude with a plea: if you've got msn, PLEASE add me! I need more people to talk to who aren't my mother (*groan*) Seriously! aye.avast@hotmail.com

Haven't posted in a while, so... here's an update on my life:

Firstly, Triina, we need to go downtown and buy comics. And possibly other stuff, as I've accumulated a boatload of money from working, and I WANNA SPEND IT! WAHHHH!

Secondly, I survived my trip to Europe, in case any cared *sniffs pathetically*. Yeah. I was almost run over seven times in London, but only twice in Paris, so Paris wins out there. I went pretty much everywhere - Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Tower o' London, London Eye, Stonehenge (do you know how HUGE those stones are? damn...). Oh! And in Avebury there was a whole flock of sheep, and I communed with them. It was REALLY fun... I'll try to upload a picture soon.

Also, I TOTALLY passed my Young Drivers final exam! OH YEAH! Okay, so it was with a 72%, which is 2% short of failing, but that's not the point. Apparently my parallel parking is abysmal. So what? I'll just never go into the city. Or main street. Or... yeah, that won't work :P

On a much richer note, I've got a new job from an old friend of mine's dad, which pays - get this - 15$ an hour. WOOT! Plus, I can work as many hours as I like a week (although we're supposed to do at least 20), and there's no schedule. I could literally wake up at 3 in the morning, log on to the site, and start working there. I upload college courses onto this website, cuz the college wants to put everything they have online. It's deadly dull, but the pays good, so... meh!

This concludes my post. I will now go partake in the viewing of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And the next person to tell me how the show is nerdy will suffer a very painful death. You have been warned \_/

Eurotrip

Greetings all!

Part One of Michelle's Magical Trip Through England and France.

I wont give a day by day account, because its too much work, and they only let you use the computer for ten minutes :( basically, am currently in London (w00t!), and have been for... going on four days now, i think.

first day was jetlagged, so almost fell asleep. went to the national gallery (big art museum), and saw a couple of paintings, including this one that had a giant pickle in the bottom of the painting. it was really odd. i'm pretty sure i did something else, but i can't remember what. oh yes! we went on two walking tours of london - the first was a movie locations walk, so we saw where they filmed teh HP Gringotts bank scene (the basement of the australian embassy), something about bridgette jones diary, and a bunch of stuff to do with james bond. very fun =D. then we went on a... HARRY POTTER WALK! BOOyA! yes. it was very fun. and then i fell asleep halfway through the engladn/portugal game, which wasn't as fun, but dad kept prodding me awake, so i saw most of it. w00t portugal! i have developed a fangirl crush on Ronaldo. he is my hero. so there.

also went to the british museum - saw the rosetta stone! also something else famous, but forget what... oh yeah, a bunch of stuff that the british stole from the parthenon. heh heh. gotta love teh british. after that (or before. whichever), went to the british library to see, among other things, the magna carta. the ORIGINAL magna carta. you hear that, rachel? all our magna carta-ing in philosophy paid off!

must be going, but will conclude with two things: firstly, traffic in london is insane. seriously, the pedestrian sign is green right up unti you try to cross, at which point both the green and red guys shut off, so you're left thinking wtf?! i was almost run over FIVE times, which was really terrifying, and i have currently acquired two souvenirs - a spoon, and a t-shirt.

more to follow, assuming i can steal the computer again in the near future. OMG! pirates 2 in 2 days! too bad i can't see it till i get back =(

school's over! W00T!

finished all my lovely exams - english on tuesday, writer's craft and world issues on wednesday - BACK TO BACK, no less! Yeesh. not sure what i did the rest of the week... it's all kind of a blur. i may have helped my mother rearrange the basement somewhere in there...

OMG! soccer tournament on the weekend! SOOOO much fun! our team was really, really awful, and i was sure we were set to lose, until i arrive on saturday morning to discover they'd won the first game the night before (i was working then). yeah, so we played teh game, and we kicked ASS! and then we played again in the afternoon, and repeated the performance.

this morning, we (baby blue, Portugal) played france, and it was 0-0 for the whole game. then, like ten minutes before the end, the ref called a free shot for us, and we all milled around... except the enemy forwards wouldn't stay 10 yards away from the ball, like they were supposed to. so the ref indicates where they should go, adn they don't move. so he physically counts out ten steps for them, and they still don't move. so he gives two of them yellow cards (cards are almost never given in houseleague Aurora soccer, btw), and they don't move. so he RED CARDS one girl. only THEN do they get the picture. their coach was having a fit, but he was an irritating bastard, so i didn't much care =D

anyway, we won a the last second with a beautiful header into the net!!!!! i am proud to say that i have become the unofficial goalie of the team, in that i go in the net for the first half of every game. which is pretty good, considering everyone else despises net. ah well.

so the final game, against argentina. they're amazing, but we score literally in the fisrt play (e.g. two minutes in), and from then on we're laughing. we win 2-0, get our pics taken, win little plastic trophies, and go for ice cream at Baskin Robbins. all in all, an AWESOME DAY!

PS: in case i didn't make it clear, i am SO HAPPY! YAYYYYYYYY!

Animation Fun

If you're Rachel or Jin, you'll get this. If not, just enjoy the happiness of lymericks in general.

Mr D'Aversa was sad
Because all his students were bad
He pulled out a machete
Chopped them into spaghetti
For some reason, Dr. Chan was glad

There once was a guy named Hansen
He really loved the dancin'
He kicked up his heels
Spun about on his wheels
On his wheelchair he was always a prancin'

There once was a girl named Michelle
Who was the prettiest girl in the dell
She turned into a toad
And hopped down the road
Thinking to herself, "aw, hell."

There once was a girl named Danni
Whose resemblance to Jin was uncanny
They both had black hair
And were asian... and there
For they were both murdered by Annie.

It's a sad fact that Rachel is Dead.
She took a baguette over the head.
The shops all closed down
The king removed his crown
And her head was covered in lead.

There once was a girl named Triina
Who loved the bread and been-a
She mounted a horse
And trotted the course
It was the strangest sight you've ever seen-a

There once was a guy named Kai
Who had always wanted to fly
He spread out his arms
Whacked a bunch of gendarmes
So they chained him up to a pie.

so i was totally playing soccer last night, and i was the goalie... which was actually a lot more fun than i thought it would be. after six spectacular saves (my coach called them spectacular, so i'm not exaggerating... but they were SO awesome! right...) i realized that aside from the goal kick thing (which i suck at), i'm not half bad!

right. so all the saves were awesome, except the first one, in which i had to dive to the ground to stop the damn ball from going in. this involved me rolling around while the enemy team tried to kick it away from me, and i managed to scrape my knee and my arm. they aren't that bad, but it hurts like a... you know where i'm going.

the worst part is my finger. i think it's... well, not broken, but probably sprained or whatever. the knuckle on my left index finger aches, and its really red =( luckily, it seems to be getting less swollen as time passes, so... well, it still hurts, so we'll see.

on a completely different note... EEEEE! high school over in a week! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! i'm going to be SO glad to get out of here! no more exams, no more projects, no more GOD DAMNED ENGLISH ESSAYS THAT I GOT 91% ON, AND YET MY MARK ONLY ROSE 2 PERCENT TO BECOME AN 82. HOW THE HELL DOES THAT WORK?

that is all.

i think the only thing worse than having to TIDY for your CLEANING ladies (wtf! how DUMB an idea is that???) is to be told they are coming the next day, when it's 10:45 at night. i mean, what the heck am i supposed to do? start tidying up when i can barely see straight? i don't think so!

on the plus side, i think i did well on my english presentation. Ms Russell actually said that my essay was "nearly flawless" - her words, not mine. i THINK that's a good thing, but i can't be sure. she also asked me if i got someone to edit it, so either that means she has no faith in my writing skills, or she thinks someone else wrote it for me... or she was just interested. here's hoping for the latter!

time for some good, old-fashioned angst/bragging. ahem...

firstly, i was TOTALLY at teh Aurora Council something or other last night when they were giving out awards for community service. carolyn, my brother and i all received civil service youth volunteer awards (or something like that), but the cheapskates didn't even engrave our names on the plaqueS! HELLO! what do we pay taxes for, people?

lol. anyway, here's the angsty bit. sitting here in writer's craft, supposed to be doing analysis, but shoudl be working on my English presentation, which is in like an hour. i have no clue what to say - actually, i have extensive notes, but its practically an essay, which means i'll end up reading it off word for word - which is BAD

yes. and i have been inspired by carolyn to go see if i'm allergic to anything. i haven't gone yet, but its on my to do list. maybe i'll be allergic to education. then i won't have to go to school anymore =D

PROM

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

OMG! PROM WAS AWESOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMME!

i admit, i haven't been to a school dance since grade 8... but i'm so glad i didn't opt out of this one! there was happy dancing, the food rocked, and thankfully they actually had a decent selection of dance songs. not that i don't like love songs just as much as the next person... but when you aren't there with someone special, love songs are kind of... well, dull.

still, it was a blast! and i got my first manicure and pedicure ever, and they were SOOOOO much fun! although, fyi, pedicures are really painful. especially the part where they jab at your cuticles with metal rods and then hack off the excess skin with pruning shears. hahaha. i'm not exaggerating. much =P

only sad bit about prom was that jin lost her camera =( i hope that the teachers/bellagio people found it

oh! and apparently when they say manicures last a week, it doesn't include submerging said manicured hands in a sink washing dishes for three hours the day after you get the manicure. =(

and check out my userpic - isn't it ADORABLE? =D

OOOOOOOOOH! I WISH i'd signed up for Model Parliament! It sounds like SUCH a blast! Ugh. Jealousy setting in...

I've given up on my animation manga-page thing due tomorrow. I don't even have my sketchbook. D'aversa took it like a month ago and never gave it back. *sigh* i'll hand it in Monday - he'll never notice... i hope...

and THANK YOU DANNI for helping me with my anime face thing! IT LOOKS SO COOL! EEEEE!

and TAYLOR HICKS WON AMERICAN IDOL! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

That is all.

blah. so i was sick thursday and friday, then got a three day weekend... which makes five days total. what did i do over those days? absolutely nothing. NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING! and of course, last night I was up until 2 am finishing projects that I should have done over the weekend. blah.

point of interest: my writer's craft group is holding a fundraiser tomorrow after school. it's a dodgeball tournament, $2 a person to play, and I beg you all to PLEASE come, because its a ridiculous fundraiser, and i doubt anyone else will. sigh...

So, first of all I've got to push a little advertisement for the Aurora Fair. It happens June 8,9,10,11 (that's thurs, fri, sat, sun, like two weeks from now). YOU ALL MUST COME! if not to volunteer, just to come visit me =)

you should all also enter in the Junior Arts Competition. i've seen the prizes they're giving out, ppl, and i can say that they firmly kick bottom.

speaking of the fair, yesterday i spent four lovely hours at Charley Fitzwhiskeys (restaurant in Aurora), helping to judge the Aurora Idol - singing competition the Fair puts on each year. after sitting there listening to dull farm anecdotes for three hours, a sum total of TWO people auditioned. needless to say, it was a waste of time.

the only good part was that i got a meal, TWO shirley temples, and some apple pie, courtesy of the fair board. plus, i got to kick various Fair Director's bottoms at five card draw. =)

Uff. So i finished my short story (which is crap), and my review (well, not exactly, but its almost there!). Also found out that apparently xmen3 doesn't come out till NEXT weekend, not this one! AHHHH! I was sooo looking forward to that! Damn studios and their not letting me see movies i want see. Right...

Currently home sick with a cold... is that the same thing as a flu? i never really got the difference. well, anyway, it totally sucks, and i'm just bulldozing through tissues, but at least i'm not in school. :) shiny silver lining.

An EXTREME THANK YOU to Megan, for being such an awesome friend! Helping me out with delivering those posters saved me a whole day of school/cold-induced agony. ^_^

so i got a deviant art account today. apparently i can put my awful poetry in it. Ha. some of its actually pretty good... in a bad sort of way. right.

i need more angst in my life. seriously. i need a boyfriend. or some friends who are mad at me. or some massive family dysfunction. where's all the angst? argh. lol. i'm a moron. i'm perfectly happy without the angst, and thats the way i like it. although a guy WOULD be nice. preferably a really, really hot one. like Jimmy Olsen from Lois & Clarke. if you've seen that show, you'll know what I mean. oooooh

Abandoned

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Tiger Bunny
So I'm sitting here in Animation, bored out of my mind. seriously, does mr. d'aversa even know what's going on in this class? cuz i sure as heck don't. so i'm reading my book. and apparantly hanging out on live journal. yay.

Everyone has abandoned me in Animation. Danni, Jin, and Kai are all gone to NY (lucky gits), and Rachel's gone away - it's all very tragic. I'm all alone at the back of the room, getting lectured by the substitute teacher not to use email programs. He-lohhhh! Does live journal LOOK like email to you, you ignorant little... but I digress.

Carolyn and I are going to Starbucks today. That means I get a frappucino. Yum :) Well, my mood has effectively lifted. Can't wait till tomorrow - broadsword training in Toronto! and I may even get to hit something! (last week we just learned the moves and stuff) well, here's hoping!

May 4th, 2006

So i got "Lois and Clark" today - this old television show about Superman. yes, i like superman, and comic books in general. if that's too immature for you, DEAL WITH IT! sorry, just a bit annoyed that i'm not allowed to like the things i do because its not "appropriate for my age group". moving on...

I was watching it last night, and Lois was really, really b****y, but Clark was so attractive! I might even say... should I? Yes. I will. He was hot. Darn it, he was hot. very, very much so. and lex luthor was creepy - he stared down a snake! it was really odd, and he had water streaming out of his eyes by the end of it. did i mention he's really creepy? well, he is.

yep. that's my story. i'm going to go pretend to work now. and stop posting. its too addictive. lord, i've been on livejournal for four days, and already i'm hooked. i need a patch or something. do they sell those? nevermind.

o rly?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Tiger Bunny
today i learned the subtle nuances of the phrase "o rly" - which apparently means oh really. go figure. if you want something hilarious, go to wikipedia and type in o rly. its very, very strange.

i also learned about various "L337" words, which apparantly derives from the word elite. as it happens, n00b means newbie, w00t is spelt with 0s, not o's, and srsly means seriously. srsly. im not kidding. hahaha. there's some humor for you. ZOMG!

right. i'm crazy... not that that was anything new...

so i learned today what lj is for - apparantly, you talk about stuff, like wtevers on your mind... and you dont use grammar or splling

i feel special. and i want a frappucino

wot? its whats on my mind.

no spelling makes everything faster! carolyn, add me to your friends list. im sad. and i don't know how to use this darn thing.
